Idle Controller – 202402

Key Features:

  • Optimized for the combination KMS ECU and Bosche Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) 0280140514 and 0280140531.
  • KMS ECU CAN bus interface is used to retrieve input data.
  • In the default operating mode the ECU idle value is mapped to the working range of the Bosch IACV. When programming idle values in the ECU the full range of 0 to 100% can be used from fully closed to fully open.
  • To make smoother startup the IACV is partially openend as soon CAN data is available. This avoids the valve moving from the fall back(off) position to closed position and active open position.
  • The idle valve stays in fall back position when no ECU is detected.
  • Breaks up larger changes into smaller steps to avoid solenoid valve from vibrating/rattling.
  • The IACV is smoothly turned off at higher revs to reduce stress on the valve and allow air through by being in the fall back position.
  • Allows to supply sufficient current to IACV.

Optional Features (pre-configured):

  • Cold start override mode. Uses fixed idle position after startup in order to allow sensors to warm up and start at higher revs. Returns back to use ECU value once engine reaches preset temperature .
  • Closed Loop mode. Use closed loop control to fully override ECU input to control idle.
  • Use the valve as second throttle valve which can fully open at high revs.

Input connectors:

  • 2 pin male AMP Superseal connector – 12v, GND 
  • 4 pin male CAN connector 

Output connector:

  • 2 pin female AMP Superseal connector – 12v, Idle signal

Requirements:

  • Input power cable to controller (not included): 2 pin female AMP Superseal connector – 12v (switched) / GND. Wire thickness of 0.75mm2 is recommended.
  • Input can cable to controller (not included): 4 pin CAN female.
  • Output cable from controller to idle valve (not included): 2 pin male AMP Superseal connector to 2-pin AMP (Bosch)  connector. Wire thickness of 0.75mm2 is recommended.

KMS Settings

  • External dashboard must be set to KMS_CAN 1MHz.
  • Idle Valve %. Full range from 500-1250rpm be used to input values from 0% (fully closed) to 100% (fully open). Usually values above 50% are only needed at low revs (<800).
  • Idle corrections for engine temperature and airconditioning can be used as usual.
  • Solenoid Frequency. Can be ignored. Frequency is controlled by the Idle Controller.
